From the sands of Poole Bay to the sands of the Dakar Rally stages.......

Poole-based Excite Rallye Raid is the only professional all-British Dakar Rally team to be entering the Dakar Rally in 2011.

www.britishrallyteam.com

Excite Rallye Raid Team is the first professional all-British Dakar team, combining world class drivers and riders with an experienced management, marketing and support crew, working with the purpose-designed and built McRae Enduro car to fly the flag for Great Britain in the spirit of all the great British explorers and adventurers from history.

The Team is delighted to announce its driver and equipment line up for the 2011 Dakar Rally:

The team will be running three McRae Enduro cars, driven by Martin Rowe, John Hardy (a very competitive and reliable driver) and potentially Alister McRae (though this has yet to be confirmed), plus two KTM 690 motorbikes ridden by Stan Watt and John Stamper (both Dakar Rally veterans).

The Dakar Rally is internationally recognised as being the world’s most gruelling and arduous motorsport event, followed by millions globally on TV and throughout the media, as hundreds of competitors cover in excess of 9,000 km in 14 days over some of the most hostile environmental conditions found anywhere.

After two editions in South America, the organisers of the Dakar Rally have announced that the world’s leading rally-raid will again take place in and in 2011.  The excellent relations built up with the two host countries, the vital assets in motor sport terms, as well as the huge groundswell of enthusiasm seen amongst spectators at last year’s event, have led the rally organisers to propose a third instalment in the two Latin American countries for the 2011 edition, which will take place from 1st to 16th January, 2011.

Many of the leading vehicle manufacturers enter the event as it is a unique opportunity to market their products to a global audience. Equally, a large number of entries come from private, entrepreneurial teams who are driven to compete in this prestigious event.

Excite Rallye Raid is currently in partnership talks with several global brands, but the team would love to be backed by a British sponsor to round off the all-British package.
